 Is membership completely open to the general public?
No. We have strategically elected to serve only select employee groups (companies) and members of certain associations which must be approved by our Board of Directors and the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), an agency of the federal government. By limiting the membership to these companies and members of certain associations we establish a bond with not only the company but the employees of that company and the members of the association. Maui FCU believes that credit union services are an additional fringe benefit which an employer can offer to an employee at virtually “no cost” to an employer.
We attempt to service companies who have electronic direct deposit capabilities and an established presence on Maui amongst a number of other criteria.
Who may join Maui Federal Credit Union?
Any person within our field of membership may join the credit union by completing a membership card and depositing a minimum of $6.00. The $6.00 includes a nonrefundable membership fee of $1.00 and the purchase of one share ($5.00) in the credit union (shares are your savings in the credit union). You must always have a minimum of $5.00 in your share account to remain a member. Members are encouraged to open an account for their spouses and children, making their families 100% credit union families. To earn dividends on your share account you must have at least $100.
The following is a list our our current select employee groups and associations. Any employee/member of these companies/associations and their "immediate family" may join our credit union.
