Youth Report Card Rewards Program

Maui Federal Credit Union is taking steps to ensure that being a youth member is more rewarding than ever before. Maui FCU believes in investing in the future of Maui Keiki members, and will reward hard work and excellence in school not only through the scholarship program, but also with Youth Report Card Rewards. All youth members, grades K-12 with Sprout or iThrive accounts, will be eligible to have money deposited into his or her savings account for receiving a great report card!

  • Every quarter, students may earn $1.00 for every “A” letter grade on their report card up to $5.00 cash.
  • Students who earn straight A’s on their report card will be entered into a special drawing each quarter for $25.00 cash.
  • Report Cards will be accepted for the most recent grading period only. The report card must be received by Maui FCU within 1 month of the report card date. Progress reports are not eligible.
  • Students may submit a copy of their report card by visiting the main Maui FCU branch at 107 East Wakea Avenue. Be sure to include your name, account number, and address on your report card when submitting a copy to the credit union.

To be eligible to participate in this contest, entrants must be family members of a Maui Federal Credit Union member between the ages of 0 and 13 years old. Employees of MFCU and their immediate family members are ineligible. The term “immediate family” includes spouses and children.

Entry on-line, by emailing your photos to or through private message via Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter. By submitting a photo(s), it constitutes permission for us to post the submission on social media and we may use the submitter’s name and photo for purposes of advertising and promotion by the credit union without compensation. Entries must be submitted by the parent/guardian of child. Qualified entrants may enter as often as they wish.

By entering, participants represent and warrant that they own the picture submitted, and it does not violate the rights of any third parties. No lewd, crude, or offensive photographs will be accepted. MFCU reserves the right in its sole and absolute discretion to disqualify any entry.

Photo entries will be accepted Thursday, October 22nd through Thursday, October 30th. Voting will begin on the Maui Federal Credit Union Facebook page on Friday, October 31st through Sunday, November 1st.

On Monday, November 2nd the top three winners of each category will be selected based on Facebook votes.

All entries received will be place into one of the categories below:
          Age Group Category 1: 0 – 6 years old
          Age Group Category 2: 7 – 13 years old

1st place will receive a $25 Gift Card (no cash value)

Tips to Revamp Your Holiday Shopping Habits

Maui FCU will be counting down the holidays with tips to revamp your Holiday Shopping Habits. It’s easy to get wrapped up in giving the perfect gift to everyone you know during the holiday season. But there is such a thing as being too generous, especially when it becomes a hazard to your finances. Consider these holiday spending tips to get you through the holiday season without crumbling your budget.

Tip #1 to Revamp Your Holiday Shopping Habits (11/07):
Make a list. Write down everyone you plan to give gifts to. Set a price limit for each person to keep your budget on track!

Tip #2 to Revamp Your Holiday Shopping Habits (11/14):
Price check. If you’re doing your shopping in-store, use your phone to see if you can find a better price somewhere else. Many stores will do a price-match if you can show them a better price is available at another retailer.

Tip #3 to Revamp Your Holiday Shopping Habits (11/21):
Get Rewarded. 
If you’re going to use a credit card for your holiday shopping, you may as well get something in return for doing so. If you’re not already using a credit card that features rewards, consider applying for a Maui FCU credit card to start earning reward points for all your holiday shopping.

Notice to Members – COVID-19 Update

We will continue to follow the CDC's recommended guidelines to keep our employees and members safe.

In addition, we are taking the following precautions with our employees:

·         All workers will have their temperature taken before entering the building
·         All workers are required to have a face mask
·         Workers will sanitize and disinfect shared services frequently

We require our members to wear masks or facial coverings. We encourage our members to wash/sanitize your hands before/after coming into the branch, and — most importantly — stay at home if you are feeling sick.

To ensure employees and members maintain distance, we placed decals on the floor to direct traffic flow and have limited the number of members in the office at a time and only one member per account.

We also want to remind everyone how you can prepare now to help keep yourself, your family, and coworkers healthy. Everyone is in a better position to ward off illnesses if they are healthy.

FAQs On Compromised Cards

Q: I received a letter stating that my debit card may have been compromised. What does that mean?
A: Debit card compromises occur when unauthorized individuals gain access to your payment card information. This typically means that it’s likely after using your card with a merchant, your card number, expiration date and PIN may have been manually or electronically captured for the purpose of creating a functional counterfeit payment card.

Q: Is this Maui Federal Credit Union’s fault?
A: No – debit card breaches are, unfortunately almost always totally beyond the control of the issuing financial institution. The only way to 100% eliminate the risk of a compromise is to not issue cards. Our members deserve the convenience of debit cards, so we acknowledge the potential for fraud as one of the costs of doing business. We have highly developed security and fraud detection tools in place that give us the ability to quickly respond to fraudulent activity and limit our loss exposure by blocking/closing compromised cards.

Q: How does Maui Federal Credit Union react to compromise notifications?
A: We take every compromise seriously. We require issuance of new cards for affected members. Members may receive a phone call or written notification if their card data has been compromised. Your replacement card will be ordered automatically at no charge to you.

Q: Does this mean that I have fraud on my account?
A: No. It only means that your debit card information has potentially been compromised. Your payment card may be replaced as a cautionary measure. We monitor your account 24/7 for fraud, but we also recommend that you review your account and report any suspicious or unauthorized transaction to us immediately. Online banking, mobile banking and audio response is a great way to monitor your account activity, and you won’t need to wait for a monthly statement.

Q: What do I need to do if I discover fraud on my account?
A: Call Maui Federal Credit Union immediately at (808) 873-5050. After hours, or in the case of a lost/stolen debit card, please call 1-800-472-3272.

Q: What can I do to prevent this from happening again?
A: No one can predict when their debit card will be compromised. We strongly urge our members to engage in online and mobile banking practices to increase overall awareness of the available balances in their accounts. We also have a free CardValet app to help you proactively manage your debit card and help protect yourself against fraud available for download at the Google Play Store and Apple iTunes Store. If there is ever a transaction you do not recognize, please contact us immediately and we will be glad to assist you. If you don’t take advantage of home banking, mobile banking and audio response (1-800-399-4790), be sure to protect yourself by always reviewing your monthly statement(s) as soon as they arrive.

Q: How long will it to take for me to receive a new card?
A: It usually takes seven to 10 business days to receive a new card.

Q: What if I have preauthorized debits made to my compromised debit card number?
A: You should contact the merchant(s) immediately upon receipt of your replacement card, and provide them with the new card number and expiration date.

Q: Can this information be used to steal my identity?
A: The information encoded on your debit card pertains to the card number and expiration date. Confidential information such as Social Security numbers, checking account numbers, driver’s license numbers, addresses and dates of birth are not stored on the card.

Maui Federal Credit Union members can now conduct basic transactions on your account at over 60 credit union shared branching locations in Hawaii and over 5,000 shared branching locations throughout the mainland at no charge.

Transactions available at Shared Branches include: (A valid photo ID and your Maui FCU account number must be presented when conducting transactions. Some transactions may not be available at certain locations.)

  • Cash Withdrawals will be limited to the lesser of the member’s available balance or the Outlet’s available cash
