2. Select “Deposit” on the navigation panel at the top of your screen.
3. TAP on "Deposit a Check".
4. Select which account you would like to deposit into.
5. Enter your check amount on your smartphone/tablet.
6. Endorse the back of your check with your Signature and write Mobile Deposit at Maui FCU Only”.
7. The application will then ask you to SNAP a photo of the front and the back of your check. Please follow the instructions as stated on the application.
8. Confirm your DEPOSIT amount and submit.
9. Check back frequently to check the status of your deposit.
10. And that's it! You've successfully deposited your check pending its approval.

GENERAL MOBILE DEPOSIT QUESTIONS

What is Mobile Deposit? Mobile Deposit is a service that allows members to deposit checks into their personal share or share draft account without visiting a branch or ATM. This mobile deposit can be done anywhere with the use of their Smartphone and the Maui FCU Mobile App.

          Tips on using Mobile Deposit:
                  ·         Hold the camera as rectangular to the check as possible
                  ·          Use in a well-lit area
                  ·         No shadows across the check
                  ·         All four corners of the check are visible
                  ·         Check is not blurry
                  ·         The MICR line (numbers on the bottom of the check) is readable
                  ·          Make sure the amount that was entered matches the amount written on the check

What are the benefits of using Mobile Deposit?
       ·         Freedom to deposit original checks anytime and from anywhere with your Mobile App
       ·         Safe, fast and secure transmission of your funds
       ·         Easily review Mobile Deposit history
       ·         Save time and money by reducing trips to the Credit Union

Who is eligible to use Mobile Deposit?
       ·         Must have an eligible deposit account with us for at least 90 days;
       ·         Must be enrolled in Online and Mobile Banking;
       ·         Your mailing address, physical address and phone number on your account with us must be current and valid;
       ·         Must be a member in good standing. A member in good standing is a member who is current with all obligations outstanding with the Credit Union and has not caused the Credit Union a loss.

How do I sign up for Mobile Deposit?
There are three ways to enroll for Mobile Deposit.
    1.    Visit one of the Maui FCU locations and request Mobile Deposit Service.
    2.    Call us at our Main Branch at 808.873.5050 to request Mobile Deposit Service.
    3.    Email us via secure email through your Online Banking account.
          a.    Log in to your Online Banking account through the Maui FCU website – mauifcu.com
          b.    Click on the Message Icon (envelope, top right corner)
          c.    From the top menu, select “Compose New Message”
          d.    Subject Line: Mobile Deposit Service Request

If you are eligible for the service, within one business day, you will receive an email with the link to the Credit Union’s Member Agreement for Mobile Deposit Services. By utilizing the service, you agree to the terms and conditions.

Is Mobile Deposit safe? Mobile Deposit uses the same security and encryption measures we employ with all of our online banking services. When it comes to our members' deposits, safety is our primary concern.

Is there a fee to use Mobile Deposit? No, Mobile Deposit is free. The Credit Union reserves the right to make changes to the usage fee at any time. Should we decide to charge for the service, you will be notified. You are responsible with any and all applicable mobile service and internet provider fees you incur from utilizing the service.

Youth Report Card Rewards Program

Maui Federal Credit Union is taking steps to ensure that being a youth member is more rewarding than ever before. Maui FCU believes in investing in the future of Maui Keiki members, and will reward hard work and excellence in school not only through the scholarship program, but also with Youth Report Card Rewards. All youth members, grades K-12 with Sprout or iThrive accounts, will be eligible to have money deposited into his or her savings account for receiving a great report card!

  • Every quarter, students may earn $1.00 for every “A” letter grade on their report card up to $5.00 cash.
  • Students who earn straight A’s on their report card will be entered into a special drawing each quarter for $25.00 cash.
  • Report Cards will be accepted for the most recent grading period only. The report card must be received by Maui FCU within 1 month of the report card date. Progress reports are not eligible.
  • Students may submit a copy of their report card by visiting the main Maui FCU branch at 107 East Wakea Avenue. Be sure to include your name, account number, and address on your report card when submitting a copy to the credit union.
  • Certain restrictions may apply1.

1Membership required. Students submitting report cards must have a Sprout or iThive account. Members may earn $1.00 for every “A” letter grade on a report card up to $5.00. Report card rewards can only be redeemed in person at the main Maui Federal Credit Union branch during normal business hours. Report Cards will be accepted for the most recent grading period only. Progress reports not eligible. Maui Federal Credit Union will accept report cards issued by public or private schools. Home-schooled students must present a copy of their report card submitted to a Board of Education. Rewards will be deposited into the member’s savings account within two business days. ICU Celebration: Keiki Coloring Contest

WHO CAN ENTER
To be eligible to participate in this contest, entrants must be family members of a Maui Federal Credit Union member between the ages of 0 and 13 years old.

Employees of MFCU and their immediate family members are ineligible. The term “immediate family” includes spouses and children.

HOW TO ENTER

  1. Download the ICU Day Coloring page and print your coloring page or pick up a copy at one of our branches. Have your keiki show off their inner artist!

  2. Parents, just snap a picture of your child holding their unique masterpiece and use #MauiFCUicu2021 on the photo. Remember, your picture MUST include the hashtag to be eligible to win!

Your donation ensures that keiki receive the nutrition they need; senior citizens don't have to choose between nutritious meals and their daily medication; and parents don't have to put paying for electricity ahead of feeding their families.

With each dollar donated to the Maui Food Bank, they can provide 2 meals to hungry people on the islands of Maui, Molokai, and Lanai.

Together, we can work to ensure no one in our Maui 'ohana goes hungry!

Congratulations to all Maui FCU Scholarship Recipients!


Maui Federal Credit Union is committed to improving the financial lives of our members. Our financial resources for young adults and the annual Scholarship Program were created to help members with early financial milestones, like going to college.

Maui FCU will award at least three (3) $1,000 associate, baccalaureate or graduate degree scholarships for the Fall 2021 term for a minimum total of $3,000.

Submit scholarship application via mail, email, online application, or branch drop off.

Deadline: June 1, 2021

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • A Maui FCU primary member in good standing1 for at least a year prior to the deadline for submitting the scholarship application and must continue to be a primary member at the time the scholarship is awarded.
  • Enrolled in an associate, baccalaureate or graduate degree program at an accredited college or university.
  • Attendance must be on a full-time2 basis during the award year.

1Member is current with all obligations outstanding with Maui FCU and has not caused the Credit Union a loss.  Parental membership does not qualify applicant. All applicants must themselves be a member of a participating credit union.
 2Full-time is defined by the specific college or university. For example, the University of Hawaii requires a minimum of 12 credits per semester for full-time status in undergraduate programs.

Note:  To provide opportunities for all members, the Maui FCU member scholarship is restricted to one award per member per lifetime.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Completed scholarship application must be received via online application, email, main branch drop-off, or mail by June 1, 2021 at 11:59 PM.

  • Applicant must submit an essay, video, or photograph with completed application. Scholarship Requirements and topics can be found within the application.

Notice to Members – COVID-19 Update

We will continue to follow the CDC's recommended guidelines to keep our employees and members safe.

In addition, we are taking the following precautions with our employees:

·         All workers will have their temperature taken before entering the building
·         All workers are required to have a face mask
·         Workers will sanitize and disinfect shared services frequently

We require our members to wear masks or facial coverings. We encourage our members to wash/sanitize your hands before/after coming into the branch, and — most importantly — stay at home if you are feeling sick.

To ensure employees and members maintain distance, we placed decals on the floor to direct traffic flow and have limited the number of members in the office at a time and only one member per account.


We also want to remind everyone how you can prepare now to help keep yourself, your family, and coworkers healthy. Everyone is in a better position to ward off illnesses if they are healthy.

We recommend that our members go to www.CDC.gov to learn more about prevention.

Tips to Revamp Your Holiday Shopping Habits

Maui FCU will be counting down the holidays with tips to revamp your Holiday Shopping Habits. It’s easy to get wrapped up in giving the perfect gift to everyone you know during the holiday season. But there is such a thing as being too generous, especially when it becomes a hazard to your finances. Consider these holiday spending tips to get you through the holiday season without crumbling your budget.

Tip #1 to Revamp Your Holiday Shopping Habits (11/07):
Make a list. Write down everyone you plan to give gifts to. Set a price limit for each person to keep your budget on track!

Tip #2 to Revamp Your Holiday Shopping Habits (11/14):
Price check. If you’re doing your shopping in-store, use your phone to see if you can find a better price somewhere else. Many stores will do a price-match if you can show them a better price is available at another retailer.

Tip #3 to Revamp Your Holiday Shopping Habits (11/21):
Get Rewarded. 
If you’re going to use a credit card for your holiday shopping, you may as well get something in return for doing so. If you’re not already using a credit card that features rewards, consider applying for a Maui FCU credit card to start earning reward points for all your holiday shopping.

Tip #4 to Revamp Your Holiday Shopping Habits (11/28):
Don't Procrastinate. You're more likely to overspend when you're shopping in a rush, so don't wait until the last minute to hit the stores. Plan ahead and take your time to watch for good sales.

Stay on Top of Your Spending. Pay your bills regularly and use online banking and account statements to keep track of your spending.

  • Setup your online banking. Banking online means accessing your bank account and carrying out financial transactions through the internet on your smart device or computer. This gives you the ability to manage your bank account when it's most convenient for you.
  • Download the Maui FCU Mobile Banking App. The advantages of mobile banking include: Ease of Access, Allows you to track your finances, and it's convenient & secure.
  • Control Your Spending using CardValet. If you're trying to establish or stick to a budget, CardValet can help! Set spending limits for general use of specify thresholds by merchant types like gas, groceries, or retail stores.

Avoid Shopping Sprees. Create a list of gift ideas and then stick to it when you enter a store. If you feel tempted to make off-list purchases, consider leaving the store for a few minutes to give yourself time to think about your purchases before making them.

Consider Making Gifts. A homemade gift may not work for everyone on your list, but a thoughtful gift - whether photos for grandparents or baked goods for teachers and neighbors - are good options for many.

FAQs On Compromised Cards

Q: I received a letter stating that my debit card may have been compromised. What does that mean?
A: Debit card compromises occur when unauthorized individuals gain access to your payment card information. This typically means that it’s likely after using your card with a merchant, your card number, expiration date and PIN may have been manually or electronically captured for the purpose of creating a functional counterfeit payment card.

Q: Is this Maui Federal Credit Union’s fault?
A: No – debit card breaches are, unfortunately almost always totally beyond the control of the issuing financial institution. The only way to 100% eliminate the risk of a compromise is to not issue cards. Our members deserve the convenience of debit cards, so we acknowledge the potential for fraud as one of the costs of doing business. We have highly developed security and fraud detection tools in place that give us the ability to quickly respond to fraudulent activity and limit our loss exposure by blocking/closing compromised cards.

Q: How does Maui Federal Credit Union react to compromise notifications?
A: We take every compromise seriously. We require issuance of new cards for affected members. Members may receive a phone call or written notification if their card data has been compromised. Your replacement card will be ordered automatically at no charge to you.

Q: Does this mean that I have fraud on my account?
A: No. It only means that your debit card information has potentially been compromised. Your payment card may be replaced as a cautionary measure. We monitor your account 24/7 for fraud, but we also recommend that you review your account and report any suspicious or unauthorized transaction to us immediately. Online banking, mobile banking and audio response is a great way to monitor your account activity, and you won’t need to wait for a monthly statement.

Q: What do I need to do if I discover fraud on my account?
A: Call Maui Federal Credit Union immediately at (808) 873-5050. After hours, or in the case of a lost/stolen debit card, please call 1-800-472-3272.

Q: What can I do to prevent this from happening again?
A: No one can predict when their debit card will be compromised. We strongly urge our members to engage in online and mobile banking practices to increase overall awareness of the available balances in their accounts. We also have a free CardValet app to help you proactively manage your debit card and help protect yourself against fraud available for download at the Google Play Store and Apple iTunes Store. If there is ever a transaction you do not recognize, please contact us immediately and we will be glad to assist you. If you don’t take advantage of home banking, mobile banking and audio response (1-800-399-4790), be sure to protect yourself by always reviewing your monthly statement(s) as soon as they arrive.

Q: How long will it to take for me to receive a new card?
A: It usually takes seven to 10 business days to receive a new card.

Q: What if I have preauthorized debits made to my compromised debit card number?
A: You should contact the merchant(s) immediately upon receipt of your replacement card, and provide them with the new card number and expiration date.

Q: Can this information be used to steal my identity?
A: The information encoded on your debit card pertains to the card number and expiration date. Confidential information such as Social Security numbers, checking account numbers, driver’s license numbers, addresses and dates of birth are not stored on the card.

Shared Branching

*Due to the evolving COVID-19 pandemic, some Shared Branch locations may be temporarily unavailable. The Locator is frequently updated, but you may wish to contact the branch to confirm their status. 

Maui Federal Credit Union members can now conduct basic transactions on your account at over 60 credit union shared branching locations in Hawaii and over 5,000 shared branching locations throughout the mainland at no charge.

Transactions available at Shared Branches include: (A valid photo ID and your Maui FCU account number must be presented when conducting transactions. Some transactions may not be available at certain locations.)

  • Cash Withdrawals will be limited to the lesser of the member’s available balance or the Outlet’s available cash
  • Deposits
  • Check Withdrawals (limited to funds available)
  • Travelers Checks (no fees for single signature checks; dual signature checks subject are subject to credit union service fees)
  • Loan Payments
