Membership Eligibility

Membership in MauiFed (aka Maui Federal Credit Union) is open to:

  • Individuals who are residents of Maui*

Local Family - Membership Eligibility

*Residents are defined as those who have a current valid State of Hawaii identification or Hawaii driver’s license containing a physical Maui residential address. In addition, individuals must live and work on this island.

Share the Benefits of Membership with Our Refer a Friend Program

We believe good things should be shared! Our Refer a Friend program is our way of saying thank you for sharing MauiFed with your friends, family, and colleagues. When you invite someone into our community, everybody wins and we help both of you keep Making It Happen!

For You: Earn a $25.00 bonus for every new member you refer. You can refer up to 12 people per calendar year, meaning you could earn up to $300 annually just for spreading the word.

For Them: Your referred friend will also receive a $25.00 welcome bonus when they join and meet the new member criteria.

Here is How to Claim Your Bonuses

For the Referring Member (You!)

 

  • To earn your $25 bonus, you simply need to:

  • Be a current MauiFed member.

  • Keep a minimum balance of $25.00 in your Share account.

 

(Please note: Current MauiFed employees, Board of Directors, and Supervisory Committee members are not eligible for this referral bonus).

For the New Member (Your Friend!)

 

To earn their $25 bonus, the person you refer must be a brand-new member (no past membership within the last 12 months) or a current joint member ready to open their own primary account. To keep Making It Happen, they just need to complete the following steps:

Adult Member Requirements (Ages 18+)

  • Claim the Referral: Write your referring friend's name on the membership application at the time of account opening.

  • Get Set Up: Open a Share account in person at a MauiFed branch and enroll in both Digital Banking and eStatements.

  • Fund the Account: Complete ONE of the following using new money (funds not currently deposited at MauiFed):

    • Make a deposit of $101; OR

    • Open a standard Share Certificate with a minimum opening deposit of $1,000; OR

    • Set up a recurring electronic deposit. (You have 30 days from account opening to set this up with your employer. You must notify the credit union as soon as your first electronic paycheck hits your account).

 

Youth Member Requirements (Under 18)

  • Claim the Referral: Write your referring friend's name on the membership application at the time of account opening.

  • Get Set Up: Open a Share account in person at a MauiFed branch and enroll in both Digital Banking and eStatements.

  • Fund the Account: Complete ONE of the following using new money (funds not currently deposited at MauiFed):

    • Make a deposit of $101; OR

    • Open a standard Share Certificate with a minimum opening deposit of $250; OR

    • Have the joint owner set up an electronic file transfer from their account to the youth's account. (This transfer must be set up at the time of account opening); OR

    • Set up a recurring electronic deposit. (You have 30 days from account opening to set this up with your employer. You must notify the credit union as soon as your first electronic paycheck hits your account).

 

Getting Paid!

Once the new member successfully completes their steps, it is payday! We will deposit $25.00 directly into the referring member's Share account within 10 business days. The new member will receive their $25.00 bonus as well!

Membership is open to individuals who live and work on the island of Maui. Simply open a Regular Share or a Youth Share Account and begin to enjoy all the products, services, and benefits of your MauiFed membership.
